Welcome to the homepage of Social History of the Artist Research Centre
The Social History of the Artist Research Centre in Trier (Germany) is an association of various third-party-sponsored research projects under the coordination of Professor Dr. Dr. Andreas Tacke.
All the projects illuminate the social history of the artist in the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Era from different perspectives, with some questions being pursued up to the present.
SHARC organises or is a cooperation partner for national and international conferences and exhibitions. Its round-table discussions promote mutual exchange with additional research institutes. In numerous workshops, the project explores special subjects in-depth in discussions with invited guests and probes opportunities for collaboration. Above all, we are committed to promoting young scholars in the individual and collaboration projects.
The results gained from the different projects will be published in the series “artifex – Sources and Studies on the Social History of the Artist” (Ed. Andreas Tacke). The series (published by Michael Imhof) is open to additional authors.
